The Treatment
Painted by hand, so the sun could have done it. The grow-out is the point.
Start with a consultationBalayage is color applied freehand, painted onto the surface of the hair in sweeps rather than sealed in foils. The result is light that looks earned: brighter toward the ends, softer at the root, with no hard line anywhere. Because there is no line, there is no ticking clock; balayage grows out gracefully for months.
It is a technique that rewards restraint and placement, and punishes haste, which is why it is painted section by section to your cut and your face rather than applied by pattern.
What it does
The Appointment
From the call to the chair
- i.
Book the call
Choose a consultation slot on the calendar. She asks about your hair, your history, and what you want, then quotes the service and the time it needs. The $40 hold comes off your service.

The painting
Section by section, color is swept onto the surface of the hair by hand, heavier toward the ends, feathered at the root, following the way your cut falls.
- iii.
Tone and finish
Rinsed and toned to the finish you chose, golden or ashen or anywhere between, then dried and styled so the placement shows the way it will in daylight.

Questions
About balayage
Anything not answered here gets answered on your consultation call.
What exactly is balayage?
Color painted onto the hair freehand, in sweeps, rather than saturated in foils. The lightness concentrates toward the ends and softens toward the root, so it reads as sunlight rather than salon work.
Is balayage better than highlights?
Neither is better; they are different pictures. Balayage is softer and grows out longer; foils are brighter and more uniform. On your call she will ask what you want your hair to look like in month three, and the answer usually decides it.
Does balayage work on dark or textured hair?
Yes, and it is planned differently for it. Depth of lift, placement, and toning are all adjusted to your base color and curl pattern, which is what the consultation is for.
How long does balayage last?
Because there is no hard line, many guests go three to four months between paintings, sometimes with a toner refresh in between. It fades like weather, not like a haircut deadline.
What does balayage cost?
It depends on length, density, and how much lift the picture needs, so it is quoted on your consultation call, with the $40 fee credited to the service.
