Susu Naroze
The curly hair specialist of Champaign and Urbana. The curls, as you can see, are her own.
Her Story
Curls are not a service here. They are the specialty.
“I would rather turn a client away than give her a style that will not keep.”
— Susu Naroze
Susu Naroze has spent eighteen years learning what curly hair actually wants, and she learned it the honest way: on thousands of heads in her own chair, and on the curls she has worn her whole life. When your stylist's own hair is a crown of copper spirals, you do not have to explain shrinkage, or wash day, or what humidity did to your week.
The Egyptian Queen is the salon she built around one conviction, that hair should be understood before it is touched. Every new client starts with a fifteen minute phone call, because a curl pattern, its history, and the life it has to survive are a conversation, not a guess. It is also why the salon serves every texture that walks in: African, Asian, Latin, Caucasian, and mixed, curly, fine, thick, relaxed, and natural alike, women, men, and children.
Champaign and Urbana are full of chairs that will straighten curly hair. Hers is the one clients drive to when they want it understood: cut for how it springs, colored for how it catches light, pressed silk-smooth when you want the change, and handed back exactly as curly as you left it. The Egyptian oils on the boutique shelf, distilled by a single family in Cairo, are the same ones she works through the hair at the chair.

1000% would recommend Susu!! I have wavy hair and I was extremely overdue for a haircut. I specifically saught out Egyptian Queen for her curly hair knowledge and I'm so glad I did! I left that salon feeling like a brand new woman. …
I went to Susu for the first time after reading all of the positive reviews. The reviews were telling the truth! Susu was super sweet and she took her time on my hair during the appointment. I have very curly hair and am always hesitant to let people cut it. She did a fantastic job. …
