The Egyptian Queen is the salon she built around one conviction, that hair should be understood before it is touched. Every new client starts with a fifteen minute phone call, because a curl pattern, its history, and the life it has to survive are a conversation, not a guess. It is also why the salon serves every texture that walks in: African, Asian, Latin, Caucasian, and mixed, curly, fine, thick, relaxed, and natural alike, women, men, and children.

Champaign and Urbana are full of chairs that will straighten curly hair. Hers is the one clients drive to when they want it understood: cut for how it springs, colored for how it catches light, pressed silk-smooth when you want the change, and handed back exactly as curly as you left it.
